Children born in brothel have the scope of mainstreaming

JCF is operating a shelter home in Jessore since 2002 for the children born in brothel and ensuring residential facilities in order to develop them through arranging education, home environment, capacity building training, balanced diet, cultural and religious education and promote job opportunity in different offices and workshops. The shelter home has the capacity for 100 residential children and at present there are 42 children in the shelter home. The project is the continuation of a previous project “Asserting the Human Rights of Brothel Children and their WIP Mothers” in Jamalpur and Jessore District town Bangladesh (B7-701, 2001/0581), financed by Tdh-Italy and the European Commission and implemented from 2002 to 2005. After the end of the EC co-financed project, Tdh Italy has decided to continue to support the running of the project through sponsorship programme and they continued to support the project till December 2012 but in 2012 JCF also contributed from its own fund. In addition another donor agency PWRDF-Canada supported the shelter home through another project “Women’s Empowerment, Livelihood and Family Assistance Project” from August 2008 to July 2011. Project direct beneficiaries were children of brothel based or floating sex workers in Jessore and Fultola brothel. Since January 2013 JCF is operating the project from its own fund and in June 2017 Muslim Charity has started partial funding for one year.
