Goal/Objectives
The objective of the project is to gather local evidence to enhance the government’s national social protection programs. This involves providing existing social safety net beneficiaries with cash and non-cash assistance in advance of disasters, based on an early warning system. The aim is to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable families in Manikganj against flood-related shocks.
Major Component/Activities
- Organize orientation for the project staff on the overall project implementation process.
- Conduct Orientation on Shock Responsive Social Protection (SRSP) Actions and on roles and responsibilities and Database and Last Mile Early Warning Message dissemination for the Disaster Management Committee (DMCs) at District, Upazilla, Union and Ward level.
- Conduct verification and validation of the social safety net SRSP (MCBP, EGPP, VWBP, Old Age Allowance and Disability Allowance) beneficiary for 1700 households.
- Conduction of community consultation at the vulnerable community level for awareness-raising on SRSP Action including benefits packages
- Conduct Life skills training (Disaster preparedness/management, nutrition, health hygiene message).
- Introduce HH level preparedness plan and sensitize them accordingly in one union
- Installation of Local flood marker including mini billboard (for awareness) in one Union
- Mock Drill on Flood Preparedness in one Union (Normal Time)
- Install Information Board (# verified HHs, Preparedness messages, Project Info/ Activities) at Union level.
